At the start of 2016 the foundation set up a subsidiary, Humboldt Forum Kultur GmbH, to develop the cultural programme for the Humboldt Forum in the Berlin Palace. Humboldt Forum Kultur GmbH is tasked by the foundation with staging exhibitions at the Humboldt-Box and organizing a wide range of events in the run-up to the opening of the Humboldt Forum. The main function of Humboldt Forum Kultur GmbH, however, is to ensure that everything at this brand-new cultural venue and meeting place in the heart of Berlin will function smoothly in practice.
Last but not least, securing donations for the reconstruction of the palace’s historical facades forms a crucial part of the foundation’s remit.
Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss carries out its tasks with a small team split into four areas: planning and building services, public relations, accounting and auditing, and legal.
The foundation is headed by the general director and chief cultural officer, Prof. Dr. Hartmut Dorgerloh, by the spokesman of the Executive Board, Johannes Wien, and chief technology officer, Hans-Dieter Hegner. The Executive Board reports to the Foundation Council. Lavinia Frey is the managing director of the Humboldt Forum Kultur GmbH, which was established to organize the programme of events and exhibitions at the Humboldt Forum.
The Foundation Council is the foundation's highest decision-making body. Assisting it is the Board of Trustees, whose members are appointed by the Foundation Council on the basis of their exceptional ability to represent the foundation’s ideas and their willingness to become actively involved in supporting its aims.
